Planning for Community Asset Building

Why build your organisation’s asset base?

Community Asset Building is a central focus of the work Foresters undertakes.  We mobilise social investment funds to provide community organisations with access to finance that they typically might not obtain from main stream financial service providers.  Finance allows organisations to purchase buildings from which they can then operate. 

 

Other assets may include buildings that are strategically aligned to increasing an organisation’s service capacity, such as a house for transitional accommodation for an organisation that services the homeless.

 

Community Asset Building can enable the renewal or redevelopment of underutilised buildings, helping equity and surpluses circulate locally generating opportunities for local enterprise, income and employment generation.

 

Deciding to purchase a building for your organisation, or to work towards doing so, is a strategy that will help cement the place of your organisation in the community.  Existing beneficiaries of Foresters’ work have seen increased stability, greater independence and enhanced capacity to respond directly to the needs of the community.
